RESIDENTS GUIDE

The following is a brief introduction to Stuart House. It covers the basic layout of the premises and the services we provide for our Residents.

Layout and Positioning of Stuart House

Stuart House is situated on London Road in St Albans. We are a short distance from the City Centre and walking distance to local amenities such as local shops, public house and restaurants.
The layout of the house is homely, spacious and free flowing, allowing residents easy access to all the communal areas.

Main Area Ground Floor

Upon entering the front door there is a large entrance hall where you will find the public telephone, main stairway and doors leading to Managers office, the main lounge, main dining room and assisted bathroom. Access to the first floor via chair lift or passenger lift. Through the main lounge doors lead to another 4 lounges, dining areas and the conservatory.

Bedrooms are located on both wings of Stuart House on the ground floor and all are numbered with nameplates on each door. You will find signs throughout indicating where the emergency exits , fire hose points and toilets are.

Kitchen

The kitchen is situated on the ground floor adjacent to the main dining area.

Kitchenette

The kitchenette is situated on the of the property and is used for the preparation of teas if visitors or residents wish to make their own tea or coffee.

Conservatory

The conservatory is situated at the rear of the House and has access through the main dining area, one of the smaller lounges and the second dining area. It also has access to the rear garden and is suitable for both able bodied residents and those who require frame assistance or wheelchair access.

Outside Access

The front door is not locked during the day although direct access is not available from the outside (for security reasons visitors and residents must use the doorbell which is linked to the internal Nursecall system). Many of the ground floor bedrooms have patio doors with direct access to the gardens and there are 5 further doors (fire access) leading to the garden at the rear of the property.
